As an educator, I always position myself in the role of an observer so that I can learn and make my own distinctions to understand what seems to be hard to believe. [ But please I am not perfect and do not watch me too close, will you ?🙂 ]
One of the keys of being a great learner is to always trace back what result you´re having at this moment in your life in whatever subject or area and see what the cause was. There is no effect without a cause – this is physics and we can explain logically.
Having spent over 10 years in America had a significant impact in my life and provided me with what really being good in terms of performance is all about, and I have no doubt that I can explain the very simple reason why our team players did not score the four goals or missed them all: the sheer reason is LACK OF PROPER MIND TRAINING. They were visibly NOT in the proper mind state.
I am each and every day more convinced that our minds can become our great friends or worst enemies, based on how we train them. The key is to exert total control over them.
Everything we do, every performance we have is a result of how we´re feeling at particular moments. Some people may use constructively others destructively, but the option is always ours. There is something in the USA which has been taken more seriously than in Brazil when it comes to MIND TRAINING – that is mind conditioning.
In order to perform at high levels, we all need to put ourselves in the proper state. That, by itself ( I don´t want to be very technical – I will discuss this further in a forthcoming opportunity due to the necessary length to make it intelligible) but in lay terms what happened to the Brazilian players, excellent and extreme talented professionals – no doubt about it, was lack of training in this particular field.
Basketball is number 2 American passion after baseball. Do you know why the American basketball team is almost ´invincible´? (In quotes, because once we beat them, back in the seventies with Oscar, remember? .😉 And once we internalize what their coaches applied with their teams, we will be able to do it more times and improve our soccer players´ abilities in this particular area as well.)
Mind conditioning consists in:
1. Putting yourself in the right state.
2. Demanding from yourself more and more in order to constantly improve even if you are a master in whatever fiel.
3. Repeating particular skills you have several times over and over again each and every day until you reach a satisfactory level.
Isolating the penalti – for instance. The coach should be very aware of the fact that in order to reduce the chances of missing a goal in that particular, you need hours hours of training and repetition.
Some Basketball American coaches have a team of personal trainers to work individually with each athlete of their teams. Each one of these personal trainers picks one player at the end of each game and have him shoot some hoops ( expression equivalent to our fazer alguns arrememos ou cestas ) Do you have an idea of how many? 500. Yes, my Dear Readers, five hundred times something that they do each and every day basically. No wonder why they are the best in the world when it comes to Basketball and other sports modalities.
Do you understand now why our players missed the goals?
What does this have to do with English? Try to do what you think you ´know well´ or are supposedly good at several times and you will see what excellence is all about?
Just to wrap it up, unlike many people might be thinking, this concept in NOT Amerian, it comes from Eastern cultures, such as Japan and the Theory Z.

This is easy to understand why the Japanese were able to win the American automobile market ( very demanding one) by putting their better and superior quality cars there at a much cheaper price.
Do you know what the price of remaining ignorant in this field is? Repeating the same mistakes and not experiencing moments and feelings like the ones below:
I am a good sports. I know how to lose. How about you? All we gotta do is to learn from such experience. It´s precious material for our future actions in life.
