I´ve been meaning to write about this movie for over 2 weeks and I´ve finally gotten around to it.
Needless to say, I always approach everything I watch in any language from the perspective of learning and as you all know I am a movie buff, here goes my recommendation if you still haven´t gotten a chance to watch it: SPACE COWBOYS, translated, this time correctly, as COWBOYS DO ESPAÇO.
Starred and directed by Clint Eastwood, this is a movie that will guide you through the beautiful outer space, giving you the right idea of what an actual space mission is all about.
Watching the making of attentively, I came to know about the entire process to produce the movie, and I can assure you that based upon the information provided, they were very faithful to what the real complex space mission process entails in its entirety. How can I be so sure?
Well, back in the early 90s, I had the chance to visit NASA (For those who do not know what the acronym stands for: National Aeronautics and Space Administration – if you´re more interested in learning about it, check this out: http://www.nasa.gov/ ), more specifically the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral – Florida, where the beginning of these missions take place; and before visiting the huge Launching Pads,
you´re given a chance to not only see all the artificats and technological resources used in these space missions, including the astronaut outfits, helmets and gadgets, but also watch a 3D documentary about the APOLLO 11
visit to the moon and how everything has been accomplished, the great number of people involved in such a mission as well as having a perfect and clear idea of how magnificent and beautiful this teamwork is. In addition, you can also take nice pictures near a real replica of the APOLLO 11 rocket, which is displayed in this huge area outside the NASA main building.
In addition to that, you have the chance to go in three dimensional journey in outer space observing our planet from way up above in the sky, providing you with thought provoking questions about the Universe and what and who we´re all about. A very interesting breathtaking experience to a total different world without gravity Law that will leave you spellbound while watching it.
And, if you happen to visit Florida one day, do not miss visiting Cape Canaveral, it´s going to be a very enriching and rewarding experience.
Now, it´s time to take action, pick up the movie at your local video club, make some popcorn and enjoy the show. In case you do so, would you please take a moment of your time to provide me with your invaluable feedback?
In addition, what else can we learn from this movie you might be wondering? Well, from the story itself, I would say NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS.
The Space Cowboys had a dream once to vistit the outer space and participate in one of those missions, thanks to their dream – which for that matter took 40 years, they finally accomplished – and that´s called PERSEVERANCE, one of the greatest qualities that should be instilled and taught to each and every one of us.
Still not fully convinced whether you should watch it or not? Well, watch the trailer then at :
Look forward to hearing from you and see you next time soon.
