That´s the cover headline news of one of our most renowned magazines here in Brazil. The article alludes to the possible hindrances Brazil may face down the road while hosting one of the greatest events in the world, such as black blocs, strikes, turmoils, terrorism and organized crime.
What lies beneath these claims or allegations is not the real truth but an attempt of a particular segment against the government to sabotage a great moment of Brazil as well as preventing PT, the government political party, from staying in power for the next couple years or so.
The fact that the world cup is being held here in Brazil and the great likelihood of Brazil conquering the World Cup, therefore becoming World Hexa Champion of this worldwide enjoyed sports event, guarantees another victory of the government, which will certainly increase its level of popularity and its chances to remain in power.
Despite all challenges and difficulties Brazil has lived, never before has the country been so well and stable economically speaking, which does not mean that the country should slack off and overlook the serious issues that it still has to surpass; however, allowing particular segments whose main intentions are visibly electoral and not pro country get in the way to the possibility of selling Brazil as an interesting culture to the rest of the world magnificently and efficiently would be a very wrong move and a loss of one of the greatest opportunities our country has ever had during all its history.
It is high time we became more politicized and aroused people´s awareness to develop more consciousness regarding what is going on around us. Brazil is far from really awakening the giant, but I do believe in the potential of our country and its change for the better and that´s why I believe that a great way to get this done is through more political awareness and one great step can be seen here, through the Movement in March or Messengers of Miscegenation, a forthcoming book in English as well, http://movimentoemmarcha.org .
